Once again, we are pleased to present a stunning example of a steel staircase with block steps. For this project in Rotterdam, we were asked to contribute ideas for creating a staircase that is both chic and robust.

Combination of styles

To achieve this design, we advised combining two staircase styles. We used a classic oak block staircase together with a steel Z staircase. To enhance the industrial and robust look, we also opted for a balustrade made of iron rods. This balustrade extends along the entire length of the mezzanine, creating a calm and balanced appearance in relation to the hallway on the first floor. In this way, the steel staircase with block steps was brought to life.

Comfort and safety

For extra comfort while using the staircase, a wall-mounted handrail has also been installed. Especially for families with young children, we recommend having a handrail on the wall, as it provides an added sense of security and support.

Block staircases

For a block staircase, it is important to have sufficient space, particularly in length, as this specific staircase model does not have a nosing (the overhanging part of the step). In a block staircase, the risers and treads are glued together at a 90-degree angle.
