In Utrecht, we installed this white open staircase. The steps and handrail are made of oak and finished with a natural oil. The stringers are made of beech wood and painted white. The balustrade is made of strip steel and powder-coated in white. The result is impressive: a modern open staircase that complements the style of the home.
Previously, there was no connection from the living room to the landing, as the staircase was located in the hallway. To create more space in the hallway, it was decided to move the staircase to the living room. Our team adapted the glass balustrade on the landing to allow the installation of the new staircase.
Since the staircase is placed in the living room, it was important to consider the natural light in the space. Another consideration was the connection with the balustrade on the landing. Because the existing balustrade was white and light was an important factor, a white open staircase was chosen. However, the client also wanted to add a warm element, so the steps and handrail were made in warm oak.
